External Partner Mail 1.9 admin. 1

I'm a vendor in northern CA. My customer bought a Partner with an external PM 1.9 and no admin. password. Can I get in, is there a circuit board short-to-reset, or am I in for a hard drive to go back to factory default? I agree about not posting back door passwords and other potentially destructive info. here; my phone no. is 530-671-0405 or I can call you if you reply here. Thanks for the quick reply, skip555! When I enter 9997# for my extension & pound sign and what I think to be the serial number and pound sign (my sticker has nothing after "S/N" and "PM 30041" below that), the nice Partner VM lady says, "Log-in incorrect; please enter extension and pound sign." Is there a serial number anywhere else on/in my VM? Are all passwords 6 or more digits on the 1.9?

you are entering the last 6 digits of the serial number, correct?

That trick only works on the R3, not the R1.9.

I thought for sure I had done it on a 1.5 ....I guess not.

I found a serial no. on the Brooktrout card inside; says SN 95DR10386271. I tried the FAQ's instructions, using the last 6 digits for the password, to no avail. Any other options, or should I scrap it? Thanks for the help.

try this

connect a null modem from your laptop to com 1 on the vm
set hyper terminal for 1200 . 8 data , parity none stop 1 hardware controll
when asked for a password try P1zza (thats a one instead of a I in pizza or br00k (00 not oo)

select b shutdown

it will ask if you are sure ?

say yes
pres escape

when the > prompt appears type INIT type yes

this will defualt the VM you will lose all messages and prompts and will have to rebuild it but it will reset the admin mailbox.
