I have always had a dual HD setup for my last 2 computers. One for programs/apps and the second all for storage. A while back, someone told me this was the route to go in case your hard drive crashes and it would not affect the storage HD. My comps have been fine so far just because I have never had a HD crash on me for years. I run this setup because of my large music library and video editing I have worked on.

Is having a second internal HD the best way to go, besides backing up with tape drives and discs? I ask this because I will be upgrading my cousins computer and he mixes music. I recommended a second internal HD but wondered if going external would be any better. What are the good/bad reasons going with each?

And i bet you can get them from places like compusa, bestbuy near you, as well as circuit city. Seems to me that circuit city is a bit higher in prices than the other 2, but who knows, there are such things as sales, lol.
You can even get them on line at places like newegg, etc.

The bosses dont seem to mind as long as we arent pushing any one store for the wrong reasons.
But you will catch he.. for swearing, rudeness, spamming, or posting your email addy here, not that you sound like the type, lol. But the email rule, that is mistakenly done sometimes.
I dont like the no-email rule, but i certainly like the other rules, makes this such a great place!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of CC. I've had problems with them in the past. But it very well could be the idiots that this particular store has hired to work there. I've also noticed that their prices are comparitively higher.

It's like garebo said; the sales can be good. If you know what you want, it's a name brand, it's on sale and it's not an "open box" special, then it can be worth it.

You're right on the staff. I've dealt with some doozies who glaze over if you ask a question that's beyond the spec written on the outside of the retail package!

I already mentioned that you can usually or often get better deals (lower prices) at compusa and bestbuy, but circuit city actually carries a lot of other stuff like tv's and much more electronics than the other stores, plus they have cd's, its more of a mixture than, say, compusa, which, if i recall, is either mostly or all computer oriented.
Still, if you dont mind waiting a bit, you can get better deals online at places like newegg.com and several others.
You can even find the best deal for what you want using pricewatch.com. They figure things out including average cost of shipping, or exact cost of shipping. That makes a difference as some places like tigerdirect offer what seem to be a low price but then make it up with excessive shipping charges. They may have stopped that by now as lots of people gripe about it and report it to each other, like i am doing, lol.
But then Prydonian mentions that UPS deal and i dont think you can beat that deal!
