I have a PC that has 4 internal IDE harddrives in it. I would like to add an IDE DVD-RW to it. Can I add a 5th IDE device through USB or does the USB device take one of the spots on the primary or secondary IDE BUS?

When using as an external usb device it doesn't matter-( as far as IDE)--You can have up to 128 usb devices on your machine!!(Better install a new power line to the house).Watch your power requirements-if you don't have a 300watt power supply --you could start to have problems if everything kicks in at once.)
