Hi All,

I have read many posts about the external data imports. I am importing Excel spreadsheets into tables. I have created the tables in Access already, and have defined the columns as Memo fields when the excel cells contain paragraphs. Yet, when I run the reports, the cut at 255 charchters, as if they were text fields. I have all these student reports to generate, and all the text from the teachers is being cut off. How can I guarantee that the inport will be expressed as a memo and not a text field.

Thank you all for your help as I am in a major time crunch.

There is a further problem here. I just ran a simple report with two of the fields that are cut ff in my main report, and in a basic report, all the information displays. How can the same table generate a correct field in one report and a cut field in another?

It isn't clear if the full memo value is actually in the table or not. Is this just a problem of displaying the full value in a report/query?

If it's only an issue within the report, what section of the report contains the text box displaying the memo field? I expect it might be a group header.

Duane,

For every subject (math, science, history etc...) there are long narratives in memo fields. Every header has at least two or three memo fields that are being cut off. The full memo field is in the table, I tested them all. So every header section has a few memo fields within it that are not displaying correctly. Does that make more sense to you?

Thank you kindly for any advice you can offer me.

David

Make sure the text boxes:
- Can Grow
- Are in a section that Can Grow
- Don't have anything in the Format property

If this still doesn't work, you might need to use a subreport in the group header to display all of the memo value.

The issue apparently was an @ symbol in the Format property of the text boxes that displayed the memo field(s). Anything in the Format property of a text field has the possibility of limiting the display to 255 characters.
