External Content Storage

Advice wanted regarding where to store external content so that SharePoint can link to it. For example, if I want to embed an image in a news item, where should I store the image file ?

To achieve this all you need to do is place the image in any existing image library. When you've done this, open the image from the image library in your browser and copy the URL which you can now use in your news item.
