I have laptop without internal floppy disk & CD ROM, and I have only external CD ROM.
I have tried the bootable CD and it was OK.
Now I am trying to install windows 2000 or XP using my external CD ROM, but the CD doesn’t boot. And it was boot well with my Desktop PC.
Please I need help if anyone has experience with this problem or have suggestions?

Thanks

What is the boot sequence of the laptop? Some older systems don't have the option to boot from CD. Others have it available, but you need to specify it to be the first item in the boot sequence. You can do this by going to the computer's Setup when first booting up your computer. Usually it's F2, but it varies by computer.

What type of laptop is it (make and model)? Some systems don't like to boot off of USB devices (is that what type of external CD-ROM it is?).

If I'm not mistaken you can't boot from a USB device because USB support is isn't available until after you load windows...USB Drivers load up with Windows...

Do check your BIOS, some of the later ones now include USB boot support.
