I have a location where everyone (salespeople) wanted external call forward to their cell phone. It's a MICS 6.1 with a PRI. All phones have a DID / target line setup.

Some of the users are being told when an outside caller calls the DID it does not forward out to the cell phone but the caller ends up in the auto attendant. These phones are in fact forwarded to their cell phone and it works nearly all of the time.

I don't really endorse forwarding the phones to their cell but this is what they wanted. So the question is why doesn't it work every single time? I don't know.

is all your pri channels (23) opened for in and out. could the telco be restricting the number of inbound and out bound calls?
i had customers who have high incall volume restrict outbound to like 10 channels.

i'll check, it's a regular PRI, no VOIP/SIP whatever. It's doubtful 10+ people on the phone.

The software is a MICS 6.1 MR. Could there be an issue with external call forward capability?

Are you or can you use the link feature to transfer on those lines instead of conference calls off of the system.

Is the call forwarding being done through a Voicemail (NAM, CallPilot) If so how many channels does it have? It may be that there just isn't enough for the amount of people you have utilizing the forward. In addition have you programmed any restrictions in for this at all, I would be worried about being hacked and finding them stuck with a bill in the thousands for calls. Just my paranoia from past experiance.

user dials feature 4 9 + cell phone number

now the extension and target line/did go to their cell phone.

pretty basic but i'm being told it doesn't work every time.

I have a mics with this problem and it is kinda wierd. I can forward to a 715 area code and a 612 area code but when I try to go to a 571 area code the telco rejects the call. I had telco put a capture on the channel and they are getting the setup part of the call to the 571 area code but it just hangs there. the forwarding to 715 works ok and I use the same setup for both. If anybody is interested I have the full printout from telco on good and bad calls.

It seems to me there is a separate company who looks after the nnx or nxx codes and routing, for all telcos.
It also checks DID station level billing .It does a cross reference to be sure your sent did digits match a list for the trunk that it was sent on. so you don't bill to numbers not on your system.
sometimes that list doesn't get updated properly when new office codes are added. sometimes its just a typo.
Not many people in the telcos are even aware of this department so good luck having this issue escalated.
but try and have it escalated to traffic or routing department.
Good luck

How many appearances of your DID's do you have on your sets? Maybe if you have only 1 appearance and a call comes in on that DID while it's in use the system doesn't know what to do with the call so it gets sent to AA? (Grabbing at straws here...)
