Extensions w/ voicemail off is getting voicemail

4.0(14), they have about 15 phones with voicemail turned off(i.e. conference rooms, lobbies, etc), every month or so one or two of those extensions will get a voicemail in the mailbox, i dont have any leave mail actions in voicemail pro, everything is a transfer. it isnt the same extension each time, it seems to be totally random.

any ideas?
 
Even with VM turned off for that extension.. people can still leave a message in mailbox.. I have seen this happen when people use a Direct voicemail transfer to that etension.... It is annoying and wish Avaya would do something to prevent it..
 
ok, but i can not re-create the problem in my lab??? i guess i havent tried the voicemail transfer option, i will try that and see.
 
You can do something to prevent it, create a leave mail action for those user where you don't want to leave VM. Send those users leave mail to a greeting that say " you can't leave mail here
 
Worrying. Had a customer report this and told them in no un certain terms that I could not see any way that this is happening unless of course the softconsole user was transferring calls to vm.

Assuming that the VM transfer SC is #XXX wyy don't you create shortcodes for those extns.

ie extn 201 create #201 to go to busy. Do this for them all and see if the problem stops happening.

Yes we get this every now and then, it's especially annoying when the user affected has been configured to collect VM from a huntgroups box e.g Main by pressing the messages button (Collect action in VM pro) we always get calls saying "The lights on but there are no messages". You should not have to trick it into doing something else, Off means Off to me, not off except sometimes....bloody Avaya

Put the Users in the User right and block the voicemail option so they can't activate it. They could have it enabled it thru Phone Manager
