is there a way to retrieve the extension of the phone without calling someone with a display phone?

example, sitting at the de block and picking a pair

If you've got the TN then do a DNB from the TTY

I actually meant from the extentions phone, can you retrieve the extention #

If I understand what you are asking, you want to see what the extension number is from the phone you are calling from because the phone isn't labelled? What I do is, if no one is at a display phone to read it back to me, I dial the Express messaging number and send myself a voicemail. Then I log into my voicemail and it tells me from what number the message came from. If this isn't what you are asking, please clarify what it is you are looking for.

that is exactly what I was looking for. That sounds like the long way around the problem. The telco guy just call a number and the phone # is read back to him. That is what I was looking for. But the vm way looks doable.
Thanks for the tip.

Oh, you want a POTS line readback number. The number varies from region to region. The only way you will get it for your region is if your telco guy gives you the access number. Some will give it out but others are stingy. And they change it about every 6 months as well. Good luck.

The ANAC number will also read back the billing number for the trunk of the outbound call, not the extension on the PBX.
