I'm trying to set-up a Intuity LX. The default extension length for the local machine is 4 digits. How would I go about changing this to 3 digits. Do I need to get Avaya to change this? Thanks.

phoneguysfault,

This should be very simple and quick to do:

use this command: "change dialplan"

In the first digit field, find the number which all of your extensions begin with. In the Length field you will see that it displays: "extension" under number 4, change the length under the first digit of your extensions to 3.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, i should of been more specific. I want to change the extension length on the Intuity Audix not on the Definity. I could not find any reference to the "change dialplan" command in the Intuity. Usually in the Definity Audix I would do a "change machine" command and I would be able to change the extension length but in the Intuity that option is not available. I am logged in as Craft.

Hope this helps
Changing Extension Numbers

Use the Change Extensions screen to move a series of extension numbers from one block of numbers to another instead of changing over each number individually. You can use this screen to move a single extension from one number to another, or to change the length of every extension number in your system.

The Change Extensions screen affects many other settings on the local AUDIX system and on remote networked AUDIX systems. Use this screen only after you carefully plan the changes you want to make.
Guidelines for Using the Change Extensions Screen

Consider the following guidelines before you change extension numbers:

* To change the length of local extension numbers:
o First change the length of extensions at the platform level. Use the platform's Switch Interface Administration command. For more information, see the switch integration documentation for your specific switch.
o Use the change machine command to change extension length on a remote machine.
* To move numbers on the local machine:
o This screen can move all of the covering extensions in a given range of numbers. However, it does not change references to the local system in networked systems.
o If the system you want to change is networked to other AUDIX systems, you must also change the extension length for this machine in all connected systems.
o Ports on the system with local subscribers whose extensions are to be changed will be disabled while you make the necessary changes. Therefore, plan to make the changes when traffic is slow.
* To change automated attendant extensions:

This screen does not change the extensions for automated attendants. If you use this screen to change an extension, and an automated attendant is set up to call that extension, follow the procedures in Automated Attendant and Bulletin Boards to change the automated attendant extension.

I've found out that on the Intuity LX you need to install software package for switch integration. After software is installed you can change the extension length for the local machine in Switch Link Adminstration. Thank-you for your help.
