I have a nortel norstar 3x8 dr5.1 and have 2 t7316E's and 3 t7208's. The t7316e show the lines and the extensions and which extension is using which line, but for some reason the t7208 will not. I have the lines programmed to the keys and several of the extensions to the phones also. I want it to show which extension is using which line. I know this is probally a simple fix.. Please help....

You can't program over line buttons, intercom buttons or the handsfree button, among a few others. Do F*0 and press each button to see what's programmed. F*2 lets you assign internal autodials (BLF) to available buttons.

I understand that you cannot program over those. I have them 3 of the buttons programmed for internal autodials... but when one of the extensions that is programmed to the buttons is on a line, it will not show that that extension is in use with the indicator... how do I make it do this?

If you're using feature *2 to program the autodial button, on a 7208 it should always show when that ext is in use.
If you're concerned specifically with which ext is using each line, just press that line when it is in use, and it will show on the display which ext is using it.

Ok... Thanks RikRodgers... does it usually light up the extension that is using the line though?

ok... but i want it so that i can look at a phone and tell what extension is using the phone... i have set the t7208 up where each extension has a button, but it does not show up on the display... any ideas... it works fine on the t7316E.. but not on the 7208

Could be the LCD is bad for that button. Temporarily program DND (F85) to the button not lighting up to see if the indicator is actually working, F*3, press the button, F85. If the LCD doesn't light when DND is active you have a bad phone.

the lcd is fine... it just won't show on any of the 7208s

how do I reboot? I tried **startup but it says it can't do startup.... any ideas?

Start-up can only be done within 15 min after the system is booted up.And you do not want to do that unless you want to loose your programing. Reboot is unpluging the a/c cord then plugging inback in .

thanks a lot... hopefully this will work for me..
