I know this is a no-no per Nortel, but I need to temporarily extend a couple of digital sets 2-3 miles from the MICS. What devices are available to do this inexpensively? I know about the MCK Extenders, but since this is temporary, I won't spend that amount of money. Alternatively, I'll try a couple or ATAs and use some POTS sets at the remote.

If it is temp ask for some OPX lines from the telco and use analog stes with ATA's.
Anything other than MCK's means new system (VOIP) or extending Fiber modules.

Curlycord, How far have you successfully extended the ATAs without using FXO/FXS setup?

Loop limit spec for ATA (no Bridge taps, no Loading coils) is 200 Ohms for Data applications or 1300 Ohms for Voice applications. With 24 AWG this is 1135 meters (3850 feet) for data or 7375 meters (25,025 feet) for voice. 26 AWG would be less. Distances over 1300 ohms for voice require loop improvement.
