Hi there, newbie in Windows 2000.need your inputs.

I'm planning to extend the RAID5 array on xseries with two additional disks using the Serveraid manager. The disk type on the Disk management is BASIC (primary partition).

My question is after adding the two disk units using the serveraid manager, is the capacity on the win2000 disk management will automatically expand?

if not, can you help me what procedures i need to undertake?

thanks.

Sorry. This type of extending only works on Dynamic disks, and Windows 2000 has a limitation in that if your disks are not dynamic, you cannot do an extend function. Even then it will not happen dynamically. You will see a new disk partition and this will be seperate from the one that you already have.

You will have to delete your disk partition, meaning that you will lose all your data and then have to recreate your partitions again.

I think MS Windows 2003 resolved this matter.
Anybody can correct me on this ???

Regards.
