MICS 7.0:

I have 4 line and 5 sets with their own private MB. All sets ring for all lines but then the AA answers after a delayed 6 rings. The sets are programmed to ring after 3 rings. The sets are programmed for RING ONLY for L1-L4.

The sets personal VM message is answering the calls. I had wanted the callers to hear the AA first then be transferred to an ext. and if no answer they would hear the personal greeting.

Anyway to do this?

I believe if you are on a HG call, the system won't present you another call from the same HG until you are finished with the first one. The 2nd group will ring while on the 1st.

You might want to suggest using the ACD from a CP.

I have it on BROADCAST mode."
It doesn't matter which mode you're in.

From the book...
Incoming calls will target a specific group and hunt for the next available telephone in the group. If no telephone is available, the call can be placed in a queue or can be routed to an overflow telephone.

One phone, one call per hunt group regardless of hunt group mode.

okay thank you. It looks like I'm actually back to square 1.

One way I've gotten around this is by assigning each line to it's own HG and programming each HG to A&R on each set. One problem with that setup is you can't put a call on hold at one set and pick up at another. They will need to learn to park and page or transfer the call.

at this office all they do is transfer so that would not be a problem however there is a total of 8 lines and unfortunately that would take up more buttons on each set then I can afford

Sorry double posted.

I see your point with RING ONLY because right now if a call comes in on HG1 and HG2 at the same time both calls will ring on the IC at each set.

I am going to set up HG-601,602,603,603 to lines 01,02,03,04 and
HG-631,632,633,634 to lines 31,32,33,34 RING ONLY and see what happens.

If you set AA to answer and sets to fwd no answer in 4 rings it will be answered by AA.

The customer wants the AA to answer in 5 rings and the sets to answer with their own greetings in 3.

I am finishing up the IW and the last thing I am going to try is the HUNT GROUP suggestion that was posted. I think that will do what I want it to do with this site.

I am going to post my findings as soon as I finish with the IW and reprogram using HG numbers for L1-L8.

Why don't you try turning off the forward no answer on all phones & set your system call transfer back to 3 rings? If your Auto Attendant answers call after 5 rings & somebody dials an extension, it will drop to the personal Mailbox after 3 rings via the system transfer. If call is answered live it will come back to the person that transfered it after 3 rings if not answered. That person can than inform the incoming caller that person is not available & do a Feature 986 transfer to mailbox.

Ok I finally had time to try this on the weekend when they are gone.

I removed all line ringing from ALL sets.

Assigned L1 to HG 601, L2 to 602, L3 to HG 603, L4 to HG 604, then L31 to HG 631 and so on. I used 631 so it would be easy to remember the line numbers on the CICS. Broadcast Queue 30 seconds to Ext 200 ( reception )

Then I assigned each extension to each GH as needed and added Distinctive Ringing 1 to L1-L4 for department A and Distinctive Ring 3 to L31-L34 for department B.

Each set has 3 I/C lines due to the heavy call volume.

Set AA to answer after 5 rings on both departments and the sets to answer on 3 rings after a call has been transferred to them.

Well so far it works are designed and I am able to do what I wanted to do.

This is come in VERY handy for several other clients.

Of course I won;t really know til Monday morning at 9am when they open and the flood gate of calls pours in. Then I might get that gut wrenching feeling in my stomach that we have all had after making changes after hours or over the weekend.

I will keep you all updated.

Thank you all who helped with this interesting programming application.

One big questions. It does take a lot of time programming each extension because of the 8 lines.

If I COPY the DN will that place the new DN in the HG or must I always program the HG separately for each DN?

So far so good except the speed dialing no longer works. It says SELECT A LINE.

When I press a IC line first then speed dialing and the code it still will not dial.
