Hi,

I have a problem in that I have been supplied with some Coreldraw (at which I am a novice)files which I need to display on a website. I have exported them as .gif files and all is fine EXCEPT one part of the drawing that contains a logo which appears to have a dotted diamond shaped outline around it. This is not visible in Coreldraw itself or when I print the file.

It is a color bitmap which has a curve object and the outline is of the shape nodes. This can be seen when I select the object - the cursor changes to a shape pointer and the nodes outline is displayed as a blue outline. The dotted line displayed on the web page is also blue but is dotted.

I have noticed that on another drawing the node outline is square and there is no outline displayed on those webpages!

Any ideas welcome?

You might try changing the line thickness from hairline to 1 point, or higher, and see if that has any effect on the final output.

I started typing you an explanation of some suggestions, but on further reading, it sounds like you are using Corel Photopaint instead of Draw, is this correct?

Hi,

Not using Photopaint for this. They are CorelDraw files (.cdr) that I have been given and they have had a special logo added to them by the designer. I believe that it was originally provided to him as a Jpeg file. (I have copies of this association's logo as well)

I export the entire drawing from Coreldraw as a .gif file and then insert it into a webpage using MS FrontPage. The main drawings are just perfect - the outline problem is only around this logo - and then only those with diamond shaped curve nodes?? Why would designer need to shape a supplied logo anyway?

If I change the line width for the logo will that not make it worse?

I am sorry, I misunderstood what you were attempting ot do. There should be NO LINES around any of the objects.

Have you actually tried publishing (or previewing) the page? Are the lines in the final output? It sounds like it might be with FrontPage that is causing the problem.

For starters, be sure there are no outlines, or "burried" objects in your image. Start by moving the jpg around, and see if anything else is behind it. If that fails, go to View-> Simple Wireframe, and see if the "annomoly" still appears. If you can find it, go ahead and delete it.

If that fails, see if you can edit the image in Photopaint, as that is more geared towards .gif & .jpg creations. If all else fails, send it to techsupport@shortsmarine.com and I will take a look at it and see if I can find anything wrong with it.

It also may be a posibility that you have a "Version" conflict. Do you know if both your Corel Version and the version that the logos were originally created in are the same?

But since you don't see it in print or Corel Draw, it really leads me to believe it is a Front Page issue.

Might check that forum.

HTH,
Russell
