Exporting to Excel - Problems

I have been having some problems lately when exporting to Excel from Crystal 8. When I open them I get a read only error when I have just exported it. And I can't delete any of the files from my desktop after I am done with them it says its being used by someone else. Anyone else having this problem?

I have also been having some issues where it doesn't export everything when I choose excel, but it will when I use another format.

Do you still get "used by someone else" after restarting your computer?

Crystal 8 had some serious bugs, thats why 8.5 was released only few months later.

It could be that Crystal is still connected to the spreadsheet. As Madawc says restarting PC should clear, but closing Crystal my also be sufficient.

Yeah your able to delete them after you restart your computer. This is something that has just started, I am trying to figure out what has changed to make this start happening.

I Wish I had a solution to offer. ..

I too am having this problem. It just started recently, I use Crystal Xi. It seems to occur after using a vendors software (The probelm may not be related to the vendor software, its just that it is then that I notice the problem). to create a web page on the server. If I select from the Microft download feature and test run the report, the report hangs up. I end the report then attempt to delete the output file that it created. (excel, rtf, csv) and recieve the message that the object is in use and connot be deleted. After rebooting the machine the object can be deleted. Before rebooting, I closed all programs and tried to delete the output file it would not delete until after the reboot. CJA
