Hi
I am trying to export to Excel 8 format from crystal 8.5.The
report consists of 4 subreports. Out of which i cannot get the value of one field that belongs to one of the subreport.Sametime the other fields of the subreport are exported. I don't understand the problem. I eliminated all the extra spaces but still i cannot get the field value in excel. Please help

Is this field a formula?
If so, what is the formula? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Ken,
The field of subreport EPI0280AND80 with only one formula
({EPI0080.PASSBANDCENTERNM}*{EPI0280.PASSBANDCENTER}) is overwritten on the place of the other field {EPI0280.DEFECTS} which is from the subreport EPI0280ALL.
The order and all the data appear correct in crystal but when taken to excel i get this problem. How do i solve this?
Please help.
Thanks
Devaki

I don't know what you mean by overwritten. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Ken,
When exported to excel actually {EPI0280.DEFECTS} has to appear in column M of excel sheet. This happens when i don't add the subreport EPI0280AND80 . If i include the subreport
EPI0280AND80 with the above formula then the value of the formula
({EPI0080.PASSBANDCENTERNM}*{EPI0280.PASSBANDCENTER}) appears in column M. I don't know what happens to the
{EPI0280.DEFECTS} data. By order of the crystal the data of the formula should appear in Column Q.

I don't understand the layout of the objects. When you click on the object that is disappearing in design mode, is it a field or a subreport? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

ken,
All the fields from the main report and the subreports are fine when i run from crystal. But when exported to excel i have the data missing from one subreport. The problem is only when exporting. In crystal everything is fine both in design mode and run mode.
If you need more details please let me know.
Thanks

You missed my question. When you are in design mode of the main report, is the object that you are concerned about (the one that disappears upon export) a field object or a subreport object that displays one field. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

ken,
when i am in the design mode the subreport with one field is displayed without any problem.I can even get the data in the run mode.Problem appears only when exporting to excel.
Is this your question ken?

Thanks

is {EPI0280.DEFECTS} a field on the main report canvas, or a field on a subreport canvas? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

What Ken wants to know...is what data is missing when the export to Excel is done...Is it a field associated with the main report...or a subreport display on the main report that is missing.

I have done a lot of exports to Excel myself but never one with a subreport in it...there maybe some issues with exporting subreport displays.

If the results of the subreports are single detail line of one or more fields...rather than display the subreport itself in the main report...perhaps saving the subreport data to a shared variable(s) and then in a main report formula(s) display the result(s)is the way to go...this may help reducing the problem of exports to Excell 8.0

The only reason I can think of that adding another subreport would block the export of this subreport, is if they are considered to be in the same 'space' on the canvas. Are these subreports overlapping? I would also try making the subreport wider. NGolem's idea is also worth a try. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Thanks ken i removed all the subreports and got the all the data in a view. Then designed the report .Now it gets exported without problems.
