I have a tif file that needs 2 spot pantone colors added to it in PhotoShop. Then I need to place it in a PageMaker file for final printing.

I defined new spot chanel for each pantone color and saved as a PhotoShop DCS 2.0 eps file.

When I place it into PageMaker the colors show up as being added to the color palate however the picture appears black and white instead of color...when I print separations it only prints on the black plate.

HELP!

Hi Trisha01

Read your problem! Then I tried it myself.

Using Adobe Photoshop 5.5, I made two new spot colour pantone channels in my CMYK image. Then I saved it in DC's 2.0 eps format. (Single file DC's format, no composite). Encoding Binary.
I placed it in Pagemaker 6.5. It previwed o.k. in Pagemaker. Pantone colours were automatically appended to the color palette.
Then I printed the file as a Postscript file, with separations. I distilled the Postscript file with Acrobat Distiller. Saw that file in Acrobat reader.
All was fine with me.
Have I done the same thing as you did? Was it of some help? Please inform.

I started all over... now it imports correctly in color... but the separations still don't print... and I lost your email address.

not sure what the problem is but I do know the names of the colors have to be the same in all applications. Make sure the channel names in PS match the spot names in Pagemaker EXACTLY.
