I have seen instances of this done in Access and other software, but not Crystal. I have a stand alone Developers version of CR XI, no RAS, no Enterprise, no .NET tools, nothing other than Crystal in a box. I have to export everything and then email it out. Anyway... I'm reportng Itmes and Sales for Grocery chains. I have created Cross tabs for both metrics, i have everything done and the report looks great. When i export it, i use Excel, becuase the sales force understands it. With over 25 stores in this chain, the Spreassheet is really long. IS there a way to put each group on seperate tab? Then the enduser can export the tabs to her subordinates as needed.

Thanks

Check out Visual CUT from Millet Software. Perfect for this application.

Visual Cut looks impressive. I like the scheduling part, that would make my life a lot easier.I'll have to check it out.

In the meantime, any ideas on something more immediate?

First, I must mention there are other 3rd-party tools. See:
While my Visual CUT software can indeed export a single report and make each group a separate excel tab, it sounds like the desired end result is separate spreadsheets with the individual data emailed to each subordinate. This can also be done using Visual CUT. The functionality is called "bursting".

To answer your last question, there is no way to do do this with just Crystal Designer.

- Ido

view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

I realize that there are probably a lot of 3rd party programs out there for Crystal. the desired result is one workbook, multiple tabs. That way the Regional Manager has all the stores at her fingertips, but can export out the tabs as needed, and i don't have to email the RM 100+ spreadhseets. I didn't think CR had this functionality. I took, and passed, Crystal Certified Pro, and never heard about it. I was really just hoping i had missed something.

Thanks for your help...

Just to clarify: you could achieve both outcomes with a single scheduled task. A batch file with 2 command lines could first create the multi-tab excel file and then burst and push the individual information to the subordinates.

No version of Crystal does what you want to do - each group on a separate tab of an excel file. You will have togo3rd party.

Ido, Visual CUT does this does it not?

Yes, it does. See the Visual CUT user manual section on "Excel Functionality" -- "Combining Excel Bursting Exports into a Single Multi-Tab Spreadsheet."
