Am trying to create a graphic for a web page using CorelDraw 12.
Have made a vector graphics image and saved it as a cdr. It appears excellent, even at large magnifications.
I wish to export it as a Gif with a transparent background. With my image on a blank page, I have drawn a rectangle around the image with the pick tool to select only the image. When exporting as a GIF, I use:

Convert to Bitmap : Palletted
GIF export: set transparency color to “canvas” color (the white area surrounding the image)

I get a GIF with a white edging around the logo.

Can anyone advise me what I’m doing wrong?

On export try anti-alaising on or off, let us know if it helped

Hi Brian,

as far as I can remember, you can't give a GIF a transparent background in CorelDraw.

Open the exported GIF in PhotoPaint (on the Coreldraw disk, or it might have loaded with coreldraw).

Draw a mask around your logo, then copy it (CTRL + V).
Go to 'File' pull-down menu and sleect 'New from clipboard'.
you should now have a new window with a mask around your logo and on a transparent (white & grey squares) background. You should be able to export this again (from the 'File' pull-down menu) as a transparent GIF.

Let me know if that works - my memory's a bit rusty and I've not used version 12 };o)
