I have several users who use stand alone PCs and laptops in addition to our Exchange 2003 system in the main office. I'd like to export the global address list from the exchange system and set it up as the address book in outlook on the stand alone PCs. Can anyone let me know if this is possible and how to do it?

Regards

I am facing this same problem. Were you able to get any help in exporting the Global Address book?

thanks,

Guys, this is done automatically for you. It is called the Offline Address Book.

In Outlook go to Tools – Send/Receive – Download address book

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am working in an environment of 3500 users.
My tools->send/receive menu does not have a download option. Is this something that could have been turned off thru network administration?

What version of Outlook do you have? If you have Oultook 2003 then just enable Cached mode. It will automatically download the address book for you.

I hope you find this post helpful.

I have OE 2000 sp3. Automatic or not, where does the downloaded file end up? I don't get a Save To: diaglog.

Outlook Express?

Are you aware that your Exchange 2003 comes with a free license for Outlook 2003 for each Exchange CAL you have purchased?

Outlook Express does not support the features discussed above.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Since my last msg, I was able to find where the downloaded data went. However, the file ext is '.oab'. How can I get this data into a '.txt' file or fox table?

When Outlook is in offline mode, it reads and understands the .oab file fine, to show the GAL for your organization.

my goal is to use the GAB in a dropdown list on a Fox form. The .oab extension is not usable in Fox. I need to get the data into a fox table.

You should be able to use MS Access to grab the data from a link table. You could then import to FoxPro.

I hope you find this post helpful.

markdmac,

How can I use MS Access to grab the data from a link table?

I need to export all address lists to an excel spredsheet, for management to review. How can I do that? Can anybody help?

Thanks.

From within Access create a new database. In the table list click New and choose Link Table. In the drop down for Link Type choose Exchange.

I hope you find this post helpful.
