Exporting a Crystal Report in Rich Text Format Blank

The reports are created in a VB app. When the reports are generated the information displays correctly. However when selecting to export it to Rich Text Format the file is created on the server without any information in it. (0 KB) It seems that this problem is sporadic in nature. The version of Crystal is 8.0.1. The application is running on a Win 2000 client.
