Wingdings font (check boxes, etc)print correctly in crystal. After export to PDF, it's all junk letters (stars and stuff) nothing related to check boxes. I have explored different areas of forum and have not come across any solution to this.

Has anyone been able to find a work around to this problem? please share. The only other option that I am considering is to use static boxes with check boxes or empty, then use formula to control the printing of the boxes.

Hi,
Sorry, I cannot reproduce that problem in CR10 or XI ( using Adobe Reader 7 ) ..The check boxes ( with and without checks) are exactly as viewed and printed in my report...
I use this formula for the fields I want to display as check boxes:
If trim({TABLE_FIELD}) <> "" then chr(254) else chr(168)

The formula field is set to use Wingdings as its font..

Thanks for the response. I said in the post that when you are printing in crystal, it appears as it should.

Did you try exporting that? Please try to export to PDF. Not print to pdf printer, but using export tool of crystal. Maybe v10 is different. But v8.5 result of junk chars not text boxes as it appears on crystal viewer.

Hi,
Yes I did both..Printed directly from Crystal and exported to a PDF file and viewed and printed that..no problem.

What I suspect is that PDF doesn't have the fonts. Do you have the latest version - if not, upgrade, since it is free. Ask whoever handled such matters whether the 'Winding' font is installed for Acrobat/PDF; maybe they have it.

ALso look to see what fonts you have for Word, and does the report look OK if exported to Word.
