When exporting any pdf from InDesign myself and my co-workers are unable to export the pdf if we have any .eps files within the document. Sometimes the .eps causes InDesign to crash, sometimes the pdf exports, but shows the .eps as a gray box in the pdf, sometimes we receive an error message that the pdf will not export .eps on page 5 (or whatever page).

Any idea why this happens and how to fix it? Our work around right now is to import native .ai and .psd files instead of .eps files, but that won't always be the best solution for us.

The first thing to check might be fonts.

Try outlining your fonts on an EPS file and see if that allows export.

What type of EPS file is it? There are plenty of variations of EPS formats. What created the EPS file?

Thanks for the reply.

We already outlined the fonts. We thought of that, too. It's all artwork created from Illustrator.

We're stumped.

I have had this problem in the past in Indesign 2.
Has not happened with CS but I mostly postscript/distill Press-PDFs anyway as I have to send PDFs to 50 or 60 different publications and can't afford for anyone to have cause for complaint as I am a Windows pariah in a Mac world.
