Is anybody aware of a way to export messages like you can with MS Outlook? I am trying to move a user to a new PC and he used Outlook Express for e-mail. If I try to export messages from OE6, it will only let me export it to MS Outlook, not a file, ie.. pst file. I am able to move the address book, but I can not move the messages. Any Ideas or help????

There should be a profile that you can copy over that will look similar to this:

E:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

Then there should be some gibberish number, inside that you should find the outlook express data, copy and past that to the same location in the new machine and see how you do.

Hope this helps

I think that the issue is:

How can I export messages from Outlook Express 6?

The help files in Outlook Express re exporting are incorrect. And unhelpful.

I tried to export all messages from Outlook Express, and cannot find any file generated by the export routine - certainly not a pst file - that contains the exported messages.

Many of us need to work out how to work with Outlook and Outlook express, so if someone knows the answer, I am sure that we would be grateful for the answer.

Cheers

Chris

I have also run into this problem, and the only way I could get around it was to export the address book from OE6 as a comma delimitted file and import it into Outlook (98,2k or XP) For the saved email, you have to copy all of the .DBX files from the OE6 folder onto the new computer and import them into OE on the new machine first - the MUST be version 5 of OE. Then you can easy import them into regular Outlook on the same machine! =)

Any questions, feel free!

To summarize to my previoius post:

If you are going from OE6 to regular Outlook, you have to import all of the .DXF files into OE on the other computer first (OE4 or 5), then just do a regular import in Outlook and select:

FILE|IMPORT/EXPORT|Import Internet Email & Addresses|OE5.x

The mail that was imported into OE on the new computer will be imported, even though it may be from OE6...

The address book should be exported from OE6 as a Comma Delimited file and imported as the same.

Good Luck!
