i'm trying to export a file thru access vba with a filename that has more than one period (".") in it.

the filename is omtctr_brc.mth.20060401.gz

i can't find anything on this subject. is there anyway to do this in access?

thanks,

rus

I do not think you will be able to use a name with an invalid file extension for export, however, you can rename after export. For example:
[tt]FileName = "omtctr_brc.mth.20060401.gz"
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel9, "tblTable1", "ExpXLS.xls"
Name "ExpXLS.xls" As FileName[/tt]
