Hello all,

I have a dts that exports data from a table to a comma separated file, with ansi, and CRLF as criteria. This file is then picked up by a third party package to do some other activity.

This file cannot be opened, and an error indicating incorrect format is presented.

When I open the file in Excel and save as CSV it can then be used.

what is the difference between the dts CSV and Excel csv formats?

is there a workaround?

cheers

Excel is very forgiving about the file format it will accept.

Why use dts for this - sounds like a lot of effort, easier to use bcp from an SP. You can also format the data before the export to ensure you know what is exported.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.

Nigel,

The file is created through the DTS due to some heravy transformations of the data first.
