Export CR 8 Report --> Excel but Get Blank Excel File

Hi Crystal Reporters,

I haven't been using CR for long... so watch out

I have the CR 8 Viewer in my VB 6 app.

The VB program is able to view and print and refresh the report just fine.

But all I can EXPORT to is a .PDF (Acrobat) format.

If I choose Excel, just get an empty .XLS file and no error messages. I have tried choosing Excel 5, Excel 7 and Excel 8 - always get a blank file.

This is a VERY simple report, because that's all I know how to create right now.

Can anyone tell me why when it exports to Excel, the destination file is blank?

How many records in your report?

Excel can't have a worksheet of more than 65000 rows.

CR exports to the worksheet may include extra blank lines, so setting each report section "Free Format" =off may reduce the number of rows and let your export work. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

just a thought.

This report resides on a server. The server does not have Excel, but each users PC does have Excel 8.

Excel exports seem to be fairly problematic. Probably because of the specific nature of the cellular worksheet and the fact that the .rpt is an image.

Nonetheless, there are lots of KBases on the Crystal site, but you might want to check to make sure there is enough temp space on your drive and look at running the recent Database and Export update.

I am having the same problem, only, I am exporting RTF. I export to disk file, but the report is blank.

I have a similar problem. I cannot seem to export it to doc/txt/excel. I have installed the most recent versions of all dlls. Everything was working fine on win 95. Export function creates empty files (with no error message) on windows 2000. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Whether the export is from CR or a VB app the same files are employed. This means you will need to update the development machine then repackage and deploy the application to update the files.
