export contacts from 2003 to 2000 1

I am trying to copy a users contacts list in outlook 2003 to a users contact list in outlook 2000.
i have tried the import/export tool, howver this states that the copy is incompatible.

Any ideas?

How about exporting to Excel from 2003, then importing into 2000? Might take a little longer if you have to map any fields, but will be a get-round in the absence of a proper fix!

Tried that but starts getting very complicated, and I still get errors!

Create a personal folder file. You should have a choice of types of personal folder files (Office Outlook Personal Folders File (*.pst) or Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (*.pst)). Choose the latter, put your contacts into it and then import them into Outlook 2000.
