Hi,
I'm using win2k over quiet a bit now on my pc, but begin this week, when I wanted to type something in the iexplorer (adress box), it returned an error. This also happens when trying to perform a search. After rebooting the error remainded.
Then I formated the partition on wich my os was installed.
Then I've reïnstalled win2K. At first, everything seemed to be allright, but after turning on my pc, the problem occurd again. I realy don't know what the problem could be. A moment ago, I created a new user, and when I rebooted and loged on with the new user, it seemed to work, but after relogging with that same user account, it ran wrong again.

My os is win2k pro (no sp's)(dutch version)
I'm connected to the internet via ADSL
and iexplorer 5

could someone help me, because this is very anoying

thanks in advance
Björno

iexplorer.exe has generated errors and is beïng closed by Windows.(In dutch)

in the drwtsn32 file, I found something

Toepassingsuitzondering:
Toep: explorer.exe (PID=848)
Tijd: 9-1-2002 @ 22:24:55.682
Uitzonderingsnummer: 80000003 (hardcoded breekpunt)

wich means:
exception on program
program: explorer.exe (PID=848)
time: 9-1-2002 @ 22:24:55.682
execptionnumber : 80000003 (hardcoded breakpoint

I hope this can help you a bit

It probably wouldn't hurt to upgrade to a newer version to see if the problem still exists. Also, have you scanned for viruses?

Yes, I've scanned for virusses, but I think that the problem could be my virusscanner. I have McAfee 6.0 and I tried to turn it of and now it seems to work all fine.

The problem now is that i cant scan for virusses

i get this same error when trying to reply to emails on web based email program (yahoo). i tried disabling my virus scanner ( i also have mcafee v 4.5.1, win2k o/s & IE v5.0). i have to keep this version of IE on my company computer because it's required to run company software.

any other ideas on how to fix this error problem???

bjorno,

you stated that your OP is:

"My os is win2k pro (no sp's)(dutch version)"

I would try installing the service pack SP-2 or above. Often times installing a third party software will replace some system dll's and such that will "Break" other functions of the operating system.

Installing th W2K service pack, will bring back file compatability.

It would also be a good idea to update your Inet explorer to 5.5+

Good luck

True knowlege is not the knowing in and of itself, but in the knowing of how and where to find the answers.
