why does it do it and can i somehow stop this from happening (if not all the time at least less frequently). It makes music cd's stutter when playing at the same time. The process grabs approx. 90% cpu when it happens according to the task manager.
Hope someone can enlighten me.

regards

bob

Have you checked your machine for malware infection, that is always a good place to start.

I know, too, that explorer.exe can be replaced by trojans/virii, and the like.
Just replace it with a clean version, if in doubt. ...

Thanks for those tips.
I run adaware every day and have kaspersky pro virus
protection (nothing being reported - system clean).
Just a thought - but could Office 97 professional
be the culprit.Would it be better to uninstall Office and
just re-install word/excel etc on their own.
Thanks

bob

As far as malware is concerned a second opinion is a good option because not every piece of malware is found by any one security program. I would certainly get a second opinion before guessing what other programs may be causing your problem.
