Hi everyone,
I'm usually pretty good at troubleshooting computers but this one I've tried everything I could I think...I don't have much info on the computer as it's a neighbor's PC.
He brought it with Windows 98 not starting at all with explorer crashing
EXPLORER.EXE has caused an invalid page fault in module shell32.dll.
I've fixed that by removing the appropriate keys in the registry (Streams, streamMRU) common error for windows 98.
Now I got it to boot, but I can't do much because the damn IE is integrated into everything (MS should burn in hell for that)
Whenever I try to open a folder, open control panel, IE and other things related tightly/loosely to IE I get
EXPLORER.EXE has caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at 0167:bff7al38.
If it's IE itself I get the error + the error report prompt and the option to restart IE which lead to a series of prompts since it cant open.
Ok, that's pretty much the problem now here's what I've tried.
-I've tried clearing the auto complete of IE (no clue how it's related to my problem but MS said to do it...)
-I've deleted the *.pwl files
-I've restored IE default settings.
Now I know what I would want to do next, I would want to repair IE, but to do that I need to go in add/remove which I can't get to (from normal and safemode). Any ideas?
