Hi,
Can anyone help....When I copy files or folders whenever I use Explorer, I always seem to get this error message and everything from mysystem tray disapears..

Any ideas (Could my Explorer.exe be corrupt??)

Thanx

Sam...

Take note of the error (details).
You could choose to repair IE (part of Explorer), through Add/Remove programs, windows setup, and see if that helps.
You could also run SFC, and extract explorer.exe from the CD (if it's really explorer.exe that's causing the crash, and not kernel32.dll or somesuch).
Don't randomly run SFC and extract files. Some will cause irreparable damage (user.exe for one). Cheers,
Jim

Hi Comtech,
The error I get is the following:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in Module PDM.dll at 0177:4a01259d blah blah

Thanks
Sam

Hi ma701sd, I have a problem also. I just found this site, & don't know how to get to the experts to ask a question? My problem is I accidently found SFC & ran it. I have a corrupt file:INETWH32.dll I was told to find it and re-name it to:INEYWH32.dll.old. Then copy attachment? I don't know how to do that. I have the WIN/98 CD-ROM but have never put it in my confuser, I don't know what will happen or how to get to a file or even what/how to do if I find one? I hope you have better luck than I! Take Care, sawhorse

Open Explorer, search for INETWH32 and rename it.
Close Explorer.
Go to Start > Run > and type in SFC.
Choose to extract one file.
Type in INETWH32.dll and extract it from the windows CD to the c:\windows\system folder.
Restart when prompted. Cheers,
Jim

Hi Sawhorse, I havent tried what Comtech suggested but it would be good to take his advice on what he has suggested for you.

All the best Sawhorse

Thanx Comtech, Ill try it when I get a chance..

BTW, Would you hapen to know what OSD.exe error is (This is another error I seem to be getting )

Thanx

S....

Hi Comtech,

Thanx for helping me with the last two probs....Their sorted now (I renamed the Pdm.dll to pdmOLD.dll) and this seems to have corrected the problem.

One last problem thats been bugging me for a while...

Sometimes when I switch on the PC, it doesn't load beyond the point the black screen just before WIndows 98 splash screen pops up, This the standard but (Just to indicate where it hangs) :
mode con codepage prepare=((850) C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850
keyb uk,,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sys

To fix this, I restart the PC, go into safe mode, Shut Down and then it loads OK.
I was wondering why this happens and how can this be fixed?

Cheers
Sam....

Hi Jim, Sorry I've been off for a few days. (citlink) I think I could find that file & re-name it. But, I don't know how to do the rest of your advise. How to Exrtact? or How to put it into c:\windows\system folder? No one has ever shown me much of anything. Until I got this confuser I had never touched a mouse. I have picked up a little from call for help, tipworld, dummies daily, ect. Thank You, Larry, sawhorse sawhorse

Open Explorer (not IE), you should see in the right hand pane, autoexec.bat and config.sys. If you don't, select View (at the top), then Properties, then View tab, select "view all...", DEselect "hide system...", select "show all...". And OK...
Now you'll see the two I mentioned. Just delete them to the recycle bin, or rename them.
To extract, go to Start > Run > and type in: SFC
Choose to extract one file, browse to c:\windows\system and highlight the file, click OK.
SFC is short for System File Checker, and allows you to check all your files (not a good idea, unless this is a totally fresh new install of Windows), or extract just one file from the windows CD.
Run it, and get the inetwh32.dll copied from the CD.
You'll see how it all works, when you try it. Cheers,
Jim
