I am getting this message when I log on,
explorer.exe application error
The instruction at "0x7fca1fa" referenced memory at "0x000000005". The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program.
Other timesit is some other hex and memory could not be read.

Then when I try to reboot, I get this message,
System process, c:\winnt\sstem32\lsass.exe termintaed unexpectedly with status code -1073741819.

Please advise.
Its not letting me run some programs and not run some other.

Thanks.

Do a full virus scan and then (if clean) install Service Pack 2.

LSASS is part or the IPSEC Security Agent and is subject to a hack or two.

Service pack 2 plugs the hole (so Bill says anyway). New Zealand, a great place to live.

Also, You need to check the size of your paging file and do an defrag on all your drives.

This doesn't help much (thanks to microsoft) but explains what is happening. Unfortunately installing SP2 won't necessarily fix your problem either because it can evidentally occur with either SP1 or SP2. -Brad
