I've recently created an basic explorer bar which opens a panel containing a second folder view, so i can easily move files from one folder to another without opening multiple instances of 'my computer' but I can't get it to automatically open as default when i open a new explorer window. Is it possible to do this using a registry entry or anything?

(sorry if this is in the wrong section, i wasnt sure if it came under windows or internet explorer)

Thanks

Marc

Type "Explorer switches" in the search box of the Help and Support program. If you do it while online it should throw up several articles from Microsoft including...

130510 - Command-Line Switches for Windows Explorer

Not sure as to if this is what you are talking about.

no, this isnt what i was looking for, but thanks.

Try using Folder Options in the Control Panel. On the General tab look under the Browse Folders section and select Open each folder in its own window.

again, not what i needed but thanks for trying.

What i am after is a way to make an explorer bar (View.. Explorer Bars.. Search/Media/Folders etc) appear as default when i open windows explorer rather than having to manually select it every single time. Internet Explorer remembers which bars are on, but Windows Explorer doesn't!

Have a look at any Explorer Window /View /Toolbars /Customize.

Select what you want to appear in the "Explorer Bar" via the Customize Window.

After you have Customized your "Explorer Bar" select lock the toolbars (/View /Toolbars /) and see if that fixes it.

no, sorry. Toolbars and Explorer bars aren't the same thing.
