When I'm in an open Explorer (My Computer) window and working with the files there, the window refreshes automatically and returns focus to the top, even while I'm copying or renaming files. This is very annoying. Does anyone know what is causing this and how to stop it? I thought it was probably another installed program and suspected Norton AV, but I disabled that for a few hours and it made no difference. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The times it's happened to me I later realized I might have hit the Control key instead of Shift...
There's also the possibility your keyboard is fritzed.
Tried another?

It seems to be happening on all Windows XP machines in the office.

Also when browsing the network shared drives, it seems to be slower and hang up more often than it did with Windows 2000 Professional.

Run regedit and go to
H_L_M\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update.
If UpdateMode=0, change it to 1.
