I am trying to do a not too long and clean sftp script, to read a password file and from my research, I gathered that expect is a wonderful way to solve this.

I am trying to understand where would you put the password for expect to read if you use expect as used in the link below, I am rather new to this aspect of things, thanks to anyone who can give me an answer to this, please.

 
Expect is nice for this but if you are using ssh* based services you can do password-less logins via keys., I suggest you look into this first.
 
You could try autoexpect - see man page

You really need to start using the search facility. Many of the questions you are asking have been covered before. It took me two minutes to find this thread thread822-1319888 which seems to cover exactly what you want. Search and everyone saves time.
