General question.
What is the correct procedure when connecting an expansion chassis to the ds256 port on the msc card.
Do you need to power down the bcm 400 first or can you connect the chassis to the bcm powered up.
Should both be powered down first, if so what order should they be powered up..

In other words will i cause problems by just pluging it in directly when both powered up

I always power down first then power on the main cabinet followed by the expansion. Cant say I've ever tried it but since you cant add MBM's while the system is on I just always assumed that meant expansion chassis as well.

Yes sounds right. i should have done it that way

I connected up my first one today so i powered down the bcm400 then connected the expansion chassis.
powered up expansion first then bcm400.
Every thing worked ok anyway.
.
With Hindsight i should have done it your way.!!!

thanks

When adding an expansion cabinet to an existing bcm,i leave power on the bcm, install the expansion cabinet, put my mbm's in,install my amphenols, connect my ds256 cable on both bcm and expansion then power on the expansion cabinet.
Never had any problems.Just make sure to set your dipswitches right on your expansion cabinet.

You can plug in the expansion cable while the BCM is up, it will recognize and work.
