I've read and re-read the helpfile on CanGrow, CanShrink Properties and I cant seem to get a report to do what the help says.

Also ...
I've seen some threads on creating lines next to textbox fields but they don't seem to do what I want.

What I want is in the detail section for textboxes to grow so they are all the same size.

ie
----------------------------------------
| Name | Comments |
----------------------------------------
|Fred Nurk | This guy has never paid |
| | any bills in his life. |
----------------------------------------
|John Doe | This guy is dead |
----------------------------------------

According to help, I set CanShrink on both textboxes to Yes.
I have tried just about every combination of CanShrink & CanGrow for the textboxes and also the detail section.
All I ever get is "Name" 1 row high and "Comments" varied in height.

What am I doing wrong?

You're doing nothing wrong. It's just that the Name does not need to grow...

However, you can make the report "look" like the controls have the same height:
Place a line under the controls, as close as you can.
Set the border of the controls to 'Transparent'
This will display variable height rows in your reports.

Ahh yes, but (no)help says under CanGrow, CanShrink Properties

"...two text boxes side by side in a section ... both text boxes will be two lines long because the section is sized across its entire width"

I'm confused ... actually I think the help is confused.
:(

Sorry,

Also, the line underneath doesn't work when you've got groupings with non-repeated values. The lines get repeated, DOH!
