Hi

I'm a developer on a large government site and we've recently implemented a whole of government redesign. Part of the design we've had to take on is some access keys for accessability purposes that sit in a hidden <div> tag contolled by the CSS.

The problem is that when using google, alta vista or any search engine that runs across the page content and they enter a word that happens to sit in the access keys area we get results like this

&quot;DPI <... Skip to primary navigation | Skip to secondary navigation | Skip to content | Skip
to footer Problems viewing this site Link to Queensland Government web site ...

And given the name of the state we live in is in the access keys field - well you get the picture.

Is there anyway we can cloak the contents of the div tag from search engines?

Hi mate,

No, You can't.

The whole point of a search engine extract is that the extract is taken from the actual page. If you could cloak this then it would be pointless having it in the first place.

Hope this helps Wullie
