Exclude some records from CR XI Pie Chart

Hi.
I have a pie chart that shows the Top N (by percentage) of certain categories. There are a number of records that have no category and I wish to exclude from the chart- but I need those records elsewhere in the report.
Is there a way to do this?

Make one of them a subreport, in the report header or footer. Subreports are inefficient, but this one will only run once. Either the main report or the subreport can have the chart based on different criteria.

I figured that it could be done this way, just was hoping to avoid the overhead and maintenance aspects of additional sub-reports.
