I hope someone can help me!!!
I have 3 clients with laptops that needs access to their email thru dial up. I have an Exchange Server 5.5 on my NT server and the clients access their email through Outlook 98 or 00. It works fine if they are on the network but not dial up. It gives this "exchange server is unavailable" message and I tried to ping to the server's ip address but it timed out. I know there's something that I'm missing but I can figure it out. I believe it has something to do with the ip address of the client. DHCP and WINS are not installed on the server. I appreciate someone's feedback.

Thanks! [sig][/sig]

Exchange Server is only accessible via the network. Be in on the network or RAS. You might want to look into RAS or Outlook Web Access.

You have to create a local hosts file to resolve the name for your exchange server that you'll be connecting to across the internet. If your connecting to an exchange server behind a firewall there are a few other issues you need to address. Take a look at microsoft Q article Q155831 if that's the case.

Hope this helps [sig][/sig]
