our mail server cannot send mail to a specific domain. mail gets stuck in the outbound queue. even viewer says we dont have a PTR record but dnsstuff says we do.

the ODD thing is that i can TELNET on port 25 and deliver mail that way. Doesnt that prove that rdns etc is setup ok?

whats up with the exchange server?

No - that doesn't mean rDNS is setup correctly.

What's the exact error in the event log?

This is an SMTP protocol warning log for virtual server ID 1, connection #79. The remote host "65.*.*.67", responded to the SMTP command "mail" with "421 mis-mail.domain.com has refused your connection because your server did not have a PTR record. ". The full command sent was "MAIL FROM:<> SIZE=13309 ". This may cause the connection to fail.

Event ID 7002

Well, if dnsstuff says that there is a rDNS entry for your public IP address, and it resolves to your domain name, then the other end might have bad DNS info.
