Hi guys,

Sometimes our users receive large files from other users inside the company or outside sources. The problem is that whenever a large file is received, they cannot open it. Exchange says the file was too big to handle. One particular file that could not be opened was 8MB. I was told by my manager that he had set the incoming mail limits to 2MB. However, I have been looking everywhere inside Exchange Server 5.5, and cannot find where this limit is. Anyone know where to look to find this darn thing? Everywhere I look, there seems to be no limit specified.

Thanks!

HI.

I suggest keeping the limit enabled and using file sharing to share files.

But if you insist on disabling it, try looking in the MTA and/or the Information Store properties in Exchange Administrator. I also don't remember the exact location of this option.

Default email limits are set in the properties of the public and private information stores. Just highlight the relevant information store and click on the properties icon.

Limits can also be set in the properties of each user's mailbox so if the default limits are empty you may need to check the individual's mailbox properties.

Good luck!

Sorry for replying late guys..real busy.
I checked the properties of the public and private information stores as well as the MTA, but still dont see any limit restrictions. The file someone wanted to send was 8MB. Maybe 8MB is automatically blocked by Exchange even though a limit is not set? Any ideas? Thanks.
