Exchange Server Activer Directory Problem

I have a windows 2000 server with exchange server running on it. Due to disk space I had to reconfigure the server and restore the exchange information. Email works fine on existing accoutnts but when setting up a new user it will not setup a mailbox. Also cannot delete mailboxes when deleting users. Hope someone can help. The server I reconfigured was the original server on the network. We have another server that is a domain controller also that houses active directory but its not an exhange server.

Which logs? System and application or is there another log within the exchange folders?
