Sorry for the less than descriptive subject line, but i am a bit new to exchange server and i have a problem. I have exchange server 5.5 and various windows client machines. When users receive there mail to say client machine 1 they can see it in the inbox. If that user moves to a different machine and logs in the inbox is empty, only messages recieved on that particular client can be seen.

I think i need to know how to keep the messages in a users inbox on the server so that as a user logs on to different client machines he can view the same inbox

Any help appreciated, I guess its a straight forward stupid question anyway

Cheers

Justin

What e-mail client are your users using? Are they configured to be "corprate or workgroup"? All messages should remain on the exchange server. When the user logs on to the domain and goes to outlook, the mailbox is authenticated with the NT domain account and access that mailbox.

Assuming you are using Outlook CLients, the .PST files where your messages are being stored, are being kept local. When the user reads his mail, the messages are downloaded to the PC and stored there. If you want to view the messages irregardless of which PC the user logs into, you need to make sure the .PST files are stored on the Server.

I'm answering this from home and don't have a client to look at, so this is off the top of my head, but, I believe if you open Outlook, then go to the Tools Pull Down Menu and select Accounts (or it might be Email Accounts) you can then modify the properties for the email configuration. Click on Micrososft Exchange Server and then on the properties button. You will then get a configuration window with a few tabs across the top. I believe it's the first tab that has an option at the bottom that says something like "store mail in" or it might be "deliver mail to" and it's probably set to "Personal Folder". If so, (it's a drop down list) select Mail Box instead... that should take care of the problem.

Sorry I can't be more descriptive than that. If your still having trouble in the morning and nobody else has given a more informative reply, I've set this thread to email me notification of additions, so make another entry and I'll try and be a little more specific.

Thanks guys, I will be out of the office today but I will try this on Monday and get back if i have any trouble.

Cheers
