Dear All,

I currently have a problem with my Exchange Server constantly crashing. The .db size limit is 19GB and has exceeded its limits. I have changed the size limit now to a larger size and the problem has gone temporarily, however the HD the databases reside on is only 22GB large and the .db size is already 21GB any ideas on what can be done to split the database up and implement another HD or replace the HD with a bigger HD and replicating the data across? Any ideas on the best solution?

Thanks

Will

Add another Mailbox store on another array, and move some of the mailboxes to it.

Move the transaction logs to another array as well. From a performance issues, the TLs should be on a separate array whenever possible.

Thanks for the advice.

Think we are going to go and look into virtualizing the server though to increase the size of our Exchange Server. Anybody tried this before and know if its possible to place an Exchange Server and VMware and have it working stabely?

Thanks

Will

Exchange should be on it's own server, so virtualizing isn't the best solution. Exchange likes to run almost entirely in RAM. Putting that in a vm and piling other things on the server is asking for trouble.

Add a new hard drive to your server. Open ESM, navigate to Mailbox Store under First Storage Group. Right-click Mailbox store and select Properties. In Database tab, select Browse button for Exchange database and Exchange streaming database and move them to the newly installed, much larger hard drive.
