We are a single domain with 3 main sites each with an exchange server and DC. We are noticing that changes to any of the exchange objects such as adding a new group or allowing permissions for another mailbox is taking a long time to replicate through.. up to a day! However, any other changes to non exchange objects is quite dynamic. Does anyone have anyideas why this should be so?

It is not the Exchange the one who will replicate any change. Only Domain controllers can replicate information.
Check in every domain controller if you have replication problems, also check if the replication configuration is OK and if you have your Sites well configured.

Check your domain controllers with the DCDIAG and NETDIAG utilities at the command prompt. It may show you if something is wrong.

Check at the Active Directory Sites and Services if you have all the subnets inserted and assigned at the correct sites. (This is very important)

Check at the Active Directory Sites and Services your site replication time configuration. (By default it takes 180 minutes, if you have a good Wan link configure it to 15 minutes).

Check the replication status with repadmin and replmon utilities from the support tools. (repadmin is the best utility to test active directory replication problems).

Check in every Exchange Server at the Exchange system manager console if the Directory Service configuration has the correct Domain Controllers assigned to each Exchange Server. (This configuration is set to automatic, if your sites and subnets are OK, the exchange will assign the right domain controllers, if not, you will have a big problem, and you should correct the Sites and Subnets configuration).

Give me your feed back about this, and I may help you more.
