I create a new user in Active Directory and it asks me if I want to also make an exchange mailbox for that user, i select yes, ok. Then I go to exchange and do not see the users mailbox. It does not create the users mailbox like it should. Next I checked the email address tab on the user in AD and there is nothing listed like there should be automatically. Seems that Exchange doesnt see AD or something, im not quite sure. Any ideas?

I have seen this problem on several servers in the past. My guess is that youa re still on SP1 or SP0.

Install SP2 and the problem shoudl go away.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

okay let me go check to see what SP were on, thanks for the info!

this might seem like a stupid question, but how can I check which sp I'm on, can't find it...

Open Exchange System Manager and expand out to the servers. Right click your server name and choose properties.

I hope you find this post helpful.

It says version 6.5 (Build 6944.4) I'm guessing I don't even have sp1 on there?

Correct. You are SP0.

You can jump straight to SP2. You will want to install the SP ont he Exchange box as well as each DC that has the Exchange Tools installed. (if you can see Exchange settings like email addresses in AD Users & Computers then the tools are loaded).

I hope you find this post helpful.
