Exchange migration question

After I migrate mailboxes from exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000, if I needed to move back the email boxes to Exchange 5.5 is that possible( still having the adc in place), and after I rehome the public folders to Exchange 2000 can I rehome them back to Exchange 5.5(still having both servers in Exch5.5 for replication)

No problem to migrate users back from 2k to 5.5.

If you are going to keep both 2k & 5.5 you may as well just create a replica of the PF on the 2k server, and if and when you decom the 5.5 server you just remove that replica.

Is their any microsoft doc supporting this and I have a test lab doing this and it seems like the pub replication is taking forever and it is not that much stuff in the pub folder any suggestions?
